First Master's Thesis Related to ChatGPT-M Project Activities Successfully Defended

On September 14, 2026, Darijo Ivanović, a student of the Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate University Teacher Education Programme, successfully defended his master's thesis entitled “The Impact of Digital Applications on Teaching in the Lower Grades of Primary School”, completed as part of activities related to the institutional research project ChatGPT-M.

The thesis explores the potential applications of digital tools, including ChatGPT, in primary education. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of ChatGPT in teaching the Croatian language, especially in writing and analysing pupils' compositions, while ensuring alignment with the requirements of the current curriculum.

The thesis was defended before a committee consisting of Assistant Professor Zrinka Fišer, PhD (supervisor), Assistant Professor Zrinka Šimunović, PhD, and Assistant Professor Matilda Kolić Stanić, PhD. The co-supervisor, Luka Pongračić, PhD, also attended the defence.

The completion of this master's thesis represents one of the first examples of active student involvement in activities related to the ChatGPT-M project and contributes to research into the potential applications of generative artificial intelligence in education.

We congratulate Darijo on successfully defending his master's thesis and thank him for his collaboration in the project activities.
